Built on a rocky outcrop, La Sarraz Castle was constructed in 1049. Unlike most other castles, it has always been the residence of the Barons of La Sarraz and never changed hands until the death of the last lady of the castle in 1948. This unique feature is what makes it so interesting and rich in history: it has retained the character of a lived-in home, and the objects it houses have been acquired over the years.

Discover the exhibition entitled “900 Years of Dynasties”.

Renovated in 2021, the exhibition highlights the unique nature of La Sarraz Castle, which has been continuously occupied for 900 years. You will be welcomed and guided throughout the tour by the castle’s residents, who will each take turns to share anecdotes about their life at the castle. The “keys” to the castle, which you will receive at reception, will allow you to follow the guided tour and access a range of interactive content, available in several languages: French, German or English.
