La Sarraz Castle
La Sarraz Castle, built on a rocky outcrop, was constructed in 1049. Unlike most other castles, it has always been the residence of the Barons of La Sarraz and never changed hands until the death of the last lady of the castle in 1948. It is this unique feature that gives the castle its charm and richness: it has retained the character of an inhabited estate, and the objects within it have been acquired over the years.
Discover the exhibition entitled ‘900 Years of Dynasties’.
Renovated in 2021, the exhibition highlights the unique nature of La Sarraz Castle, which has been continuously inhabited for 900 years. You will be welcomed by the castle’s residents, who will accompany you on your tour and take turns sharing anecdotes from their lives at the castle. Using the ‘keys’ to the castle, which you will have received at reception, you can follow the guided tour and access various interactive features available in several languages: French, German or English.
