Mountain Bike Loops – Rando des Blés 36km
Discover two mountain bike loops through the Gros-de-Vaud!
These are old routes created by the Echallens Cycling Club for their famous cycle race, La Rando des Blés, which takes place every year in June.
Echallens–Bercher route – 36 km
Participants begin by crossing the Menthue on a very steep path (a section where you’ll have to carry your bike) for an initial climb towards Boulens. This climb continues along more rideable paths, taking participants along the hillside of the Gorges de la Menthue.
Then, after a spectacular descent, the route climbs again to reach the refreshment stop at Peyres-Possens. The rest of the route takes participants along a magnificent path towards Montaubion, then Dommartin and finally Poliez-Pittet. There, the only – but unavoidable – stretch of secondary road awaits, leading to Bottens, followed by the gruelling descent of L’Arziller towards Le Talent and finally into the Echallens Forest.
Elevation gain: 680 m. Allow 2 to 3 hours.
You can extend this route to include the Echallens–Bercher–Donneloye route (58 km).
